Your Friend
Taken From: The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There -by Catherine M Valente
"Not so long ago her mother read out loud to her from some book or other concerning fairies or soldiers or pioneers, but now they read companionably, each to their own novels or newspapers, quite as September remember their her mother doing with her father, before the war.Sundays were the best days, when the sunlight seemed to last forever, and September would bloom under her mother's big, frank smile. On Sundays, she didn't hurt. She didn't miss a place she couldn't explain to a grown-up person. She didn't wish her small dinner with its meager ration of tinnier beef were a fey feast of candy and roasted hearts and purple melons full of rainwater wine. On Sundays, she almost didn't think about Fairyland at all. Sometimes she considered telling her mother about everything that had happened. Sometimes she burned to do it. But something older and wiser within her said, Some things are for hiding and for keeping...."
You can be friends with anyone: your pet, your mother, your book, the girl in your class who has the exact opposite personality, even if it may be tough to get along with them because they may not understand you like they think they do. Your friend can distract you from your hurts, even if they can't fix them, or even know what they are. And it can be hard to keep a secret from them, but some things are for hiding and for keeping. Even if you have to keep a secret, your friend is someone who enjoys being with you anyways. You may have to keep a secret from your friend for a good reason, like a surprise party or something they just shouldn't know because it's for the better. So if you have a friend like this you are very lucky. You and your friend don't have to be alike, you can just like to talk to each other and play with each other.

Don't Be Grumpish! We Can Save Obsolete Words!
Loosing a word from a dictionary can be sad. You loose a word when people stop caring about using good, strong words. I've seen lists of obsolete words and most of them are really good, colorful words that are really fun to say. I'm going to write a story with my favorite obsolete words.
My sister and I were twattling about playing in the sparkling white snow. Quickly my younger sister began harrying us that it was much too cold to play out in freezing -5 degree snow.
"Don't worry, there's an apricity," I pointed out.
"Which is lovely, but I must say I am too gorgonized by your elflock to notice," cut in my younger sister.
"You better talk quieter because we don't want our brabble to reach mom and dad," I whispered.
"Let's not fight until twitter-light... we can end this now," exclaimed my other sister.
"Yeah, I'm sorry I said you have an elflock. I love you." said my younger sister.
"I love you too." I said.
"We're all monsterful," finished my other sister.
You can look-up the meaning of these obsolete words, and maybe you'll find a couple obsolete words that you like or think are funny.

A Lesson in Photography.
Today my mom taught me how to edit pictures I took. She had me take 10 pictures, and then we got to do the fun part: editing. Photography is a kind of art. You start by looking around you and looking at something you think is interesting, and then move it until it looks like a good picture. And then you get to edit it until it looks more colorful, or black and white. You can do so many things. Here is my art. I hope you like it.

Fall Fairy Wreaths.
I love the fall so I wanted to dress like a fall fairy. When my cousins were visiting I was making crowns for them, but I decided that the crowns would look much cooler if I added fall leaves. One of my favorite things about fall is all of the colors; there are so many different colors of the leaves. Another of my favorite things about the fall is making leaf forts and jumping on top of them. I also like the weather. To me the weather always feels just right.

The Start of Something New.
Ready for a new adventure....
Yesterday I finished my Creation to Christ school work!! And it was pretty big. It had tons of stuff in it. I feel really happy because I'm done with all of that work.I feel excited because I can be done and able to do more things with my time, like reading. I'm happy to be done with it, because now I will get to try something new. I really liked the science. I learned all about animals and zoology. There were lots of cool books I got to read. I love reading, so that was fun. My history book was called was called: Creation to Christ. I studied from when God created the world to when Christ was born. For the last two weeks I was reading John and Acts, and writing about them, and understanding those books. I'm glad that I'm home schooled because if I want a day off than all I have to do is do a little extra work, or if I'm sick for a day, I wouldn't miss anything. I'd like to go to school because I think it's fun to try new things, and I think APEX is fun and I think it might be nice to try a different way of school. Now that I'm done, I'm going to study about American History. And get ready for Daddy to be done with school and for us to move. It makes me feel excited. I love where we live, but I'm ready for a change. Soon it's going to be busy. It's going to be lots of changes. Big changes. I'm looking forward to summer. I'm going into middle school and I'm moving. I think change can be something in life that people need. Sometimes it's bad, but this time, I know it's good.
